I really like tinyurl.com. This could be a quite useful tool. Giant url's are so...well, they're jerks; taking up so much space, being ridiculous, etc. So, I like this new toy. I also think Zamzar is pretty cool. This one I could see being more helpful to patrons. At least once a day while working the downstairs computer desk I have a patron who needs something converted and wants to download a new program onto the computer to do it. Unfortunately, I have to send most of them away because there's not much I can do for them, until now. The only thing about Zamzar is that it takes a little longer to complete, and having to go into your inbox to retrieve the file is kind of annoying. I could see patrons getting frustrated with that. And on a side note I personally had quite a bit of trouble with this tool. I converted a YouTube video into MP3 format and downloaded it onto a staff computer. Then I attempted to upload the video onto my blog. It took forever and it kept trying to send me to Blogger tech support because the video wasn't uploading properly. I found it all very frustrating, especially when I could have just embedded or copy and pasted the video from Youtube in the first place.
So here's my cool picture of the day:

Also, one of my favorite movies from the OPAC:

Also, please enjoy this multicultural, fuzzy, feel good video (The Zamzar converted video never did upload so I'm just linking this from YouTube. It is however on the downstairs info desk in the My Videos folder if you want to look at it.)

I hate it when URLs invade my personal space--hovering, breathing heavily.
